Paddy Twomey’s Spring Surge: A Snapshot of Recent Performances

Good afternoon all and thank you for taking a moment to read through our May newsletter.

The past month has been a rewarding one for all of us here at Athassel House Stud, with an impressive return of 9 winners and 10 runners-up from 24 starts. Among the standout performers were exciting Group 1 prospects Catalinia Delcarpio and City Of Memphis, as well as One Look who return to action in style at the Curragh.

One Look wins the Group 3 Park Express Stakes at the Curragh | Healy Racing

One Look is all it takes

One Look impressed when making a winning seasonal reappearance to win the Group 3 Park Express Stakes at the Curragh for the Connolly Racing Syndicate.

After making a big impression by winning the Goffs Million on debut, she didn’t quite hit her stride early last year. But with time and patience, she really came into her own in the autumn. After finishing second on her last run, we decided to pause with this season in mind—and thankfully, her owners were very patient.

She’ll have an entry in the Lanwades Stakes, and from here, we’ll look to climb the ladder as far as we can over the rest of the year.

Catalinia Delcarpio A Rising Star

Robert Moran's Catalina Delcarpio announced herself in style with a breathtaking debut at Leopardstown, earning TDN Rising Star honours.

She confirmed that promise with a strong showing in the Salsabil Stakes at Navan, displaying real class despite a troubled passage.

Now firmly on the Oaks radar, the talented daughter of Lope De Vega looks set for even bigger things.

Breeze Up Sale Topper Makes An Impression At Cork

City Of Memphis made a sparkling start to her career at Cork, living up to the high expectations that surrounded her debut.

The filly, who topped last year’s Tattersalls Ireland Breeze Up Sale, didn’t put a foot wrong.

S

he travelled powerfully throughout under Billy Lee and quickened smartly to assert her dominance in the final furlong.

She looks like another exciting filly for the Zinlo Syndicate to go to war with.

Currawood Looks A Smart Prospect

Currawood built on his initial promise with an impressive victory at Cork in winners' company.

Stepping up to a mile for the first time, the son of Acclamation handled the softer ground well, powering to a five-length win.

He followed that up with a career-best effort in the Tetrarch Stakes at the Curragh, continuing to show progress with each run.

A Trailblazing Career Comes to a Close

Rachael Blackmore’s retirement closes a chapter defined by extraordinary talent and hard work. From Grand National glory to Cheltenham triumphs, she broke boundaries and inspired countless others.

Wishing Rachael the best on her next chapter!
